Westboro Baptist Church: Tornado due to Kevin Durant supporting Jason Collins
From MSN Now
Toney Atkins comments: OMG!!!!!!!! What took this church so long to make such ridiculous but not unexpected allegations?
I figured many churches would be blaming gays the moment the tornado in Oklahoma set down, but I suppose some pastors are waiting, salivating over preparing and eventually delivering their equally misleading Sunday sermons before making such public comments. Perhaps if people would stop hating so much, the United States would be a nicer place in which to live, but we all know that won't happen. Too many folks want to misuse the Bible and blame everyone but themselves for the problems of the nation and the world.
The Westboro Baptist Church simply has seen another chance to blame God for the death and destruction caused by the tornado and to spew Westboro's hateful venom to see itself and its members in the news media again.
I wonder: How many of Westboro Baptist Church members are now in Oklahoma helping the people who have been hurt in so many ways in this terribly disastrous tragedy?
Readers may recall that the same church picketed funerals of soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq, waving signs with derogatory signs with words such as "faggots" and "queers" and proclaimed that God was wreaking vengeance on the United States, somehow connecting homosexuals and the wars. The church's actions fueled right-wing homophobia and un-Christian attitudes while adding to the pain and suffering of the troops' families and friends at funeral and memorial services.
