One memory that strikes me upon reading the above is a column I wrote just after the terrible terrorist attacks on the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001. I simply pointed out that terrorists could easily enter our country by coming through Mexico (and I read recently that caves between Mexico and the U.S. would allow secret access). When I wrote my opinions about border security and terrorism, I saw little to no acknowledgement on the part of political leaders, nor did I hear any governmental proposals to guard our nation, not from Mexican immigrants, but from foreign lands whose people would like to do us harm. Now we have a Republican about French people illegally entering the country. OMG!!!!!

MARRIAGE EQUALITY? WARNING: COMMENT IS LIKELY TO OFFEND SOME IF NOT MANY

Everything You Need To Know About The Marriage Equality Cases At The Supreme Court: pBeginning this morning, the Supreme Court will hear two cases that could recognize the right of everyone, straight or gay, to marry the person they love. Above post  is from ThinkProgress.org. The comment below is solely that of Toney Atkins and is not endorsed by ThinkProgress.org.

Toney Atkins comments: Why all the fuss about gay marriage? Back in the day, most heterosexuals fell in love, got married and stayed married, loving, honoring and obeying, till death did they part -- or so it appeared on the surface. Since the time that I was young, naïve and gullible, most of the straight folks I have known and to this day either just live together or actually do get married, stay together for awhile, then go on to what they think are "greener pastures," and divorce is a way of life. I know some people who have been married four or five times, and that is not an exaggeration. The kids often don't know who their real dad is, and some aren't really sure about mom. I don't remember too many single parents when I was a child. Christian preachers don't preach much about adultery, because they know they would lose a large part of their congregations if adultery was designated as great a "sin" as homosexuality, which is more common inside and outside the churches, even the evangelistic ones, as most would like to believe. So why marry, gay folks? Play around like the straight people do and don't worry about having to get a divorce when you get tired of your alleged "other half." At least, you're not being hypocritical.

Fox News Contributors Say Marriage Equality Would Criminalize Christianity

Fox News Contributors Say Marriage Equality Would Criminalize Christianity: pAs the Supreme Court weighs the merits of allowing gay and lesbian Americans the freedom to marry, right-wing anti-equality advocates are cranking the fearmongering up to 11, claiming that a world of marriage equality is one that would functionally ban Christians from practicing their religion. BOOGIE YOUR WAY INTO SPRING AND SUMMER

By TONEY ATKINS

So far, my downstairs neighbors haven’t complained about their ceiling falling in.

I created a dance music list for parties and for doing some moving and grooving to the beat to lose some pounds and get my shoddy body in shape and into a sexy physique for an old man. I’ll let you know later on in the spring and summer if it works.

In the meantime, I invite you to boogie with me with music based on a custom playlist that I have created on Slacker Radio. I’m not sure how they’re doing it these days, but you can listen to the station for free or the actual playlist, minus rare commercial interruptions, for a small monthly fee. If you become a premium member, you can save and even add to my playlist plus create your own custom stations and playlists.

So, if you are ready to get down and boogie and shake your groove thing to get your already beautiful bod in shape for the lake or the beach, feel free to do it the way you like it and listen and move to the following link. You can even share it with friends who are in more pathetic shape that you envision yourself as being.

The link to the music, which you can even enjoy while sitting in your easy chair and simply sipping a drink, is:

From CNN.com ... WARNING: The following may cause cringing:

Toney Atkins writes: Ouch and ouch again! Men who have never passed a kidney stone need to read the CNN report, because I can testify the truth of it -- although I honestly can't speak on the childbirth pain thing since I have never been and never plan to be pregnant. I have experienced several stones over the past 40 or so years, and none of them were fun as they moved around and especially when they painfully ejected. Even as I write, I have inside me a kidney stone that, according to X-rays, is so large that several doctors, including a specialist, say that I will likely be calling 9-1-1 if it ever tries to pass because it may get stuck in my urinary tract. Heaven only knows how long it has been there, but it has occasionally caused back and side pain for a couple of years. Sorry to be so graphic, but that's the way it is. There are treatments to break apart kidney stones, I am told, but all of them would cause some bleeding, so my specialist refuses to do it because I have been on blood thinner for more than two years and anything that he would do could, and I emphasize "could," cause me to bleed out, or so he says. The article at the above link gives some important information about symptoms, along with some steps individuals can take to prevent these more-than-pesky stones.

Being a sci-fi buff who grew up with an imagination and a maze of science-fiction books, comics and movies, I wonder if I am not becoming one of those conspiracy theorists who wonders whether the scientific community, the military and the government in general aren't hiding some horrible truth from us while they build substantial underground bunkers and possibly even getaway spaceships if we indeed encounter a "When Worlds Collide" scenario? A neighbor who rarely smiles walked by me today with an even more intense frown and whispered loudly and gruffly, "It's the end of the world." If the end is nearing, I'll bet God's special effects will be far more spectacular than any movie. Unfortunately, I doubt that the event will be available on DVD the following Tuesday.

New SPLC Report: ‘Patriot’ Movement Swells for Fourth Year | Hatewatch | Southern Poverty Law Center

TONEY ATKINS COMMENTS: Hate groups have increased in the U.S. since President Obama was nominated and then elected in 2008. While many members say that their religion and the Bible support their actions, a reading of the book, particularly the statements of Jesus Christ in the New Testament and the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament, confirms that hatred, prejudice and violence against fellow men and women are definitely anti-Scriptural, anti-Christian in their beliefs, actions and attitude. I often wonder if these close-minded people even hate themselves. Ignorance is still growing in the United States. Let's not beat around the bush. A major reason that the cause of the current unpatriotism is the fact that a black president has been elected twice. Many folks, especially in the racist South and in right-wing religious organizations do not actually believe in the creed that all men are created equal and they ignore the intelligent reasoning that skin color has nothing to do with a man's worth and his leadership abilities. Will Heaven be such a divided kingdom as the U.S. is today? Only God knows, and I pray that the answer to my question will be "no." Mankind has created enough hell on earth as it is.
